Pollen Count
Portland Stone | 960mm x 450mm x 60mm
2024
I was commissioned by the Drapers’ Company to design and carve a memorial to Dr Bill Frankland, who had been a revered member of the Company, to be located in the garden at Drapers’ Hall. As an eminent researcher into allergies, Dr Frankland had pioneered the development of the pollen count, and this became my focus for the creation of the design, which depicts pollen blowing in the wind.
The piece was received very warmly by the family of Dr Frankland and by the Drapers’ Company. The commission was overseen by a committee from the Drapers’ Company with whom it was a pleasure to work.
